Obtaining a Credit Card

There are two ways to get a credit card

1)  You are offered one

2)  You apply for one

Credit Card Offers

Getting a credit card now is not as easy as it use to be. However many individuals are still getting
them.

One thing you should be careful about and that is
credit card offers. Just because you are offered one
doesn't mean you need to accept it.

Accepting that that card without first doing
research can harm you financially. So before you
go and sign on the dotted line check to see if you
understand all the costs involved in using the
credit card.

Here's how to do it:

 1)  Get the credit card offer and read it.

 2) Look for information about:

  • Fees (upfront fee, late payment fee and over the limit fee)
  • Interest rates and when can it increase and how much it can increase
  • Check to see if the credit card interest is in compliance with the new rules the government placed on credit card companies concerning credit card interest rates increases
  • Cash advances (what will it cost me to get cash advances)
  • Transferring balance from one card to another
  • Check to see when the credit card offer will expire

3) Check to see if you can get a better credit card offer
